To support his words, Johnson spoke about the situation that arose in January 2024, when he met with Biden in the Oval Office.
US President Joe Biden has been “non-governing” for the past year. Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson announced this on Saturday, January 18, writes The Free Press in connection with the Honestly podcast.
Explaining his words, he recalled a situation that occurred in early 2024 when he wanted to discuss with Biden an order to suspend the issuance of new permits for the export of US liquefied natural gas (LNG ) in European countries.
But in a personal conversation with Biden, Johnson learned that the president did not know about his own order.
“I asked the President of the United States why he suspended LNG exports to Europe, and he replied that he did not,” Johnson said.
Johnson then stressed: “Mr. President, you did it. It was an executive order signed about three weeks ago.” But Biden continues to deny it. Johnson suggested that the president ask the secretary to print the order so they could read it together.
Only then did Biden remember that he had signed the order, but, according to him, it was only concerned with a study of the consequences of LNG exports.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives assured that Biden was not lying at that moment and that he really did not know what he was signing.
Johnson said he was scared at the time because he didn’t know who was really running the country.
US President Joe Biden, at the end of his term, commuted the sentences of nearly 2,500 people convicted of non-violent drug crimes.
Biden summed up his administration’s foreign policy and recalled Putin
