The British Prime Minister emphasized that this is especially important in the context of Trump’s return, which could jeopardize international unity on this issue.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during his visit to Poland, noted the need to strengthen support for Ukraine by world leaders. According to him, the path to peace in Ukraine is possible only on the terms of Ukraine itself. The Guardian reported this on the evening of Friday, January 17.

Starmer said the UK, as one of Europe’s leading military powers, shares with Poland its commitment to NATO and Ukraine.

He noted the need to step up efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the war with Russia and ensure its ability to defend itself in the future. According to him, the strengthening of Ukraine is important now especially in anticipation of the arrival of Donald Trump in the presidency of the United States.

In Warsaw, Starmer discussed joint defense initiatives with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. In Kyiv, Starmer pledged to President Zelensky to deepen defense ties between the UK and Ukraine.

Starmer’s visit to Poland and Ukraine demonstrates the UK’s desire to maintain and strengthen support for Ukraine in the face of possible changes in the international arena. His statements show his determination to work with allies to achieve a just peace on terms acceptable to Ukraine.

Let’s remember that the day before Starmer visited Kyiv, where he signed a 100-year agreement with Ukraine, and also promised to strengthen Ukraine’s artillery and air defense.
