Basic combined arms training for university students will begin in September 2025 and include 300 academic hours.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense with reference to Deputy Minister Brigadier General of Justice Sergei Melnik.
Basic combined arms training will consist of two parts:
- theoretical course – 90 academic hours, which students will take in their educational institutions;
- practical course – 210 academic hours in educational units, centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other institutions.
All students – both men and women – must pass the theory,” Melnik said. — The practical course is mandatory only for men fit for military service due to health reasons. Women will practice only at their own request and after passing a medical examination.
It is noted that during the exercises students:
- will receive basic knowledge of tactical, reconnaissance and psychological training, medical care, and the basics of military discipline;
- master the skills of handling weapons.
After passing the BZIN, students take the military oath and receive a certificate and military specialty.
Let us recall that on January 9, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on basic military training, which provides for the systematic introduction of basic combined arms training for students seeking higher education. On January 15, this bill was signed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
