The administration of the new US President Donald Trump will seek to end the war in Ukraine.
Donald Trump’s team wants to end Russia’s war against Ukraine “as beneficial as possible” for the Ukrainian people. This was stated by candidate for the post of US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, NBC News reports.
At the Senate hearing, the candidate answered several questions. In particular, Maine Senator Angus King asked why Hegseth did not make a single mention of Ukraine or the aggressor country Russia in his opening remarks. King wondered if this was a signal that the Americans were “going to leave Ukraine.” And the future head of the Pentagon noted that Trump had previously made it clear that he wanted to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
We know who the aggressor is. We know who the good guy is. We would like this to be as beneficial as possible for Ukrainians. But this war must end,” he said.
He also said that he would “give the president my best advice” on how to support Ukraine.
US President-elect Donald Trump said yesterday that he would meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “very quickly” after he takes office next week.
And US Congressman Mike Volz expects a telephone conversation between Trump and Putin in the coming days and weeks.
