Sibiga gave a statement about the capture of North Korean soldiers

After the military personnel from North Korea were captured on the territory of the Kursk region, the leaders of foreign states congratulated Ukraine on this fact. It was a very difficult task that changed the realities of war. This was announced on Tuesday, January 14, at a briefing following a meeting with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkny, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga.

“This is a great victory and recognition of the military power of Ukraine. This is a very difficult task that was accomplished thanks to the heroism of our soldiers,” Sibiga said.

He added that it was really difficult to catch a North Korean soldier alive because they committed suicide and it was also impossible for the Russian army to catch them.

“This happened is proof of the changing facts of the Russian invasion – the participation of the North Korean military in this war.

The head of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, emphasized that the participation of military forces with the DPRK in the Russian invasion hundreds of kilometers from the borders of NATO changes the international understanding of both United States and Europe, as well as countries in the Global South.

“Now you have two witnesses but this is a clear signal that this is no longer just a Russian invasion, but a more global problem,” he said.

As reported, the South Korean government plans to hold consultations with Ukraine regarding the transfer to them of North Korean soldiers captured by the Ukrainian military.
