Front stabilization. Terms for a deal from Trump

A ceasefire and stabilization of the front are conditions for the conclusion of lasting peace, said US Congressman Mike Waltz, whom Donald Trump intends to appoint as his national security adviser.

Donald Trump, who is about to take the presidency of the United States, has previously promised that the hot phase of the conflict in Ukraine will end before he takes office. He also said that he could end the war within 24 hours. Later, saying that an agreement should be expected within six months this week, Trump’s future special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, also said that he wants to achieve this goal within of 100 days. US Congressman Mike Waltz, whom Donald Trump intends to appoint as his national security adviser, said that in order to reach any agreement to end the war in Ukraine, the front line must be stable.

Trump ready

The White House must not allow the war in Ukraine to escalate, Waltz said. According to him, the administration of the new leader of the United States is ready for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia “at any moment and on any day.” “I think this will be a very positive first step on both sides. It will allow us to continue building a framework for some kind of agreed solution. Everyone understands that this war must be ended diplomatically,” a Trump adviser said.

Meeting In Putinth

In the same interview with ABC News, the adviser of the US President-elect said that preparations for a meeting between Trump and Putin have begun. Asked if the first meeting would be bilateral, with only Trump and Putin, or if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would also attend, Waltz said the decision had not yet been made, but Trump and Putin were expected to speak by phone.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there was no talk of important preparations for negotiations between Trump and Putin. It is said that it is possible to talk about negotiations after a new administration appears in the White House.

Front stabilization of 18 year olds

“One of the things we will ask the Ukrainians… They have a problem with manpower. They call for 26 year olds, not 18 year olds. I don’t think a lot of people understand that,” said Waltz. “When we hear about the moral problems, when we hear about the front problems… You see, if the Ukrainians asked the world to do everything to defend democracy, then they should also do everything to defend democracy.”

“They certainly fought bravely, they certainly took the fight with dignity and strength, but these manpower issues need to be addressed,” Waltz added.

Many Western media publications have indicated that one of the main reasons for the recent successes of Russian troops at the front is their significant advantage in manpower.

According to journalists, representatives of the administration of the current US President Joe Biden have already called on the Ukrainian authorities to lower the draft age limit from the current 25 years.

But Vladimir Zelensky, in response to this, repeatedly said that the main problem is the lack of Western weapons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and not the people at the front.

“If someone is standing in front of you without a weapon, what difference does it make if this person is 20 years old or 30? There is no difference,” he said in mid-December in response to a question about lowering the mobilization age.

Zelensky also said that only two of the 14 brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are supposed to train abroad, have received the necessary training – and this is due to a lack of weapons.

Waltz did not answer the journalist’s question about the timing of the cease-fire, but clarified that it could happen “any minute, any day,” because the cease-fire and stabilization of the front are conditions for the conclusion of a lasting peace .

“It’s not just about guns, ammunition or sending new aid checks,” Waltz said. “The point is the front line has to be solid before we can do any kind of deal.”

It’s to bolster the front that Ukraine should lower the conscription age, says Trump’s future national security adviser.
