The head of the White House, who will leave his post in a week, said that the United States will win the global competition and that America is stronger now than it was four years ago.
United States President Joe Biden gave a foreign policy speech about his administration’s foreign policy work “to strengthen America and lead the world.” He recalled Russia’s war against Ukraine and reiterated that Moscow had not achieved its “strategic goals.” He delivered his speech on Monday, January 13, at the US State Department.
Biden referred to Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, saying that under his administration, US enemies, including Russia, have weakened.
“When Putin attacked Ukraine, he thought he could capture Kyiv in a few days, in fact, after the start of the war, I, not him, visited the center of Kyiv. joked the American president.
“It was a long train ride! But I am the only US Supreme Commander to visit a combat zone that is not controlled by US troops,” he added.
According to the president, the United States helped Ukraine and restrained Putin, so after almost three years of a massive invasion, he “failed to achieve any strategic goals.”
“He still hasn’t been able to occupy Ukraine. He hasn’t been able to destroy NATO unity.
He noted that the United States was able to rally the world in support of Ukraine and “avoid a war between two nuclear states.”
“We succeeded in both and today Ukraine is still a free and independent country with the potential for a bright future.
The US President also said that the big authoritarian states – Iran, Russia, China and the DPRK – are getting closer, “but more in weakness than in strength.”
He assured that “the United States is in a fundamentally stronger position with regard to these countries than it was four years ago.”
Before taking office, only nine NATO allies spent 2% of GDP on defense, but that number has now risen to 23, Biden said.
Biden also mentioned the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and reiterated that he believed it was the right decision.
The US President expressed hope that the next administration will continue to unite the countries and ensure that the war unleashed by the Russian Federation ends and a just and lasting peace comes to Ukraine.
We remind you that the US authorities have announced new large-scale sanctions against the Russian oil sector. The new restrictions cover more than 400 individuals and organizations in Russia’s energy sector that directly or indirectly fund the Kremlin’s war machine.
