Colleagues discovered the body of a man in an apartment located in the diplomatic area of the country’s capital.
The body of an employee of the German embassy, who was not a diplomat, but who officially worked for the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), was found in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad. This was reported by the German tabloid BILD.
The media reported that 54-year-old Thomas B. did not show up for work for two days and did not return calls. His colleagues discovered the body in an apartment located in the diplomatic area of the Pakistani capital. The last time the German diplomat logged into WhatsApp was on the evening of January 11.
Thomas B. is undergoing treatment for heart problems. This could be the possible cause of his death. At the same time, photos appeared on social networks showing blood on the face of the deceased. Pakistani police said the bleeding started after death. The cause of death has not been officially established.
Before his death, the deceased had worked in Pakistan for three and a half years and was considered an experienced specialist in crisis regions.
Working in Pakistan involves a high level of risk: in particular, Islamabad received the highest rating in the German Foreign Office’s threat assessment system. The region has been plagued by internal conflict among Islamist groups, especially along the borders of Afghanistan.
