The military ID found on a captured North Korean military man was fake, but written in the name of a real person. The Project Agency reported this on Saturday, January 11. News.
The document, a photo of which was published by the President of Ukraine, was issued in the name of Antonin Aranchin, a resident of the Republic of Tyva (Tuva), who was born in 1998. It states that he was born in the city of Turan in the same republic and his civilian specialty was a tailor. The military ID does not contain a photo or signature of the owner.
However, journalists found out that Antonin Aranchin is a real person. Moreover, Russia has only one person with that name. State databases indicate a person with the same last name, first name, patronymic and date of birth as on the captured Korean’s military ID. Only the place of birth is different. The real Antonin Aranchin was born in the village of Erzin, and not in the city of Turan. Both settlements are located in Tyva.
It is known about the real Aranchin that in 2020 he worked in Tekh-Khem forestry (south of Tyva), and in 2023, in an application for microloans, he indicated that he worked as a bodyguard in a store, or that he is a pensioner. Judging by databases leaked online, Aranchin’s solvency is so questionable that he has even been denied microloans.
The last application for a microloan of 7 thousand rubles (approximately 2930 UAH) that leaked online was submitted by this person on February 24, 2024.
Agency reporters could not reach Aranchin and his sister using the phone numbers listed in the leaked database. Both have not appeared on their pages in the social network VK for more than 10 years.
Earlier on Saturday, President Vladimir Zelensky announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the first time captured two DPRK soldiers in the Kursk region.
The SBU later provided details about the captured DPRK military personnel. A video of the capture of North Korean fighters also emerged.
