The eldest grandson of the current American president gave birth to a boy, named William Brannon Neal IV.
US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden announced on Wednesday, January 8, that they have become grandparents after their eldest granddaughter, Naomi Biden, gave birth to their first child at a Los Angeles hospital, reports of People.
Shortly after Biden told reporters he had officially become a grandfather to a 10-pound boy, the first lady shared a photo of the family’s youngest member on Instagram. He also revealed the name Naomi and her husband Peter Neal had chosen for their son: William Brannon Neal IV.
The President and First Lady spent about 40 minutes at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to see Naomi and her newborn.
President Biden, 82, previously expressed joy at his new role in the family in an interview with USA Today: “I’m going to be a great-grandfather, Jesus Christ.”
He also said that Naomi, 31, had planned to give birth by Caesarean section.
Naomi, daughter of Hunter Biden and author Kathleen Boulet, announced her pregnancy on Instagram Stories on Election Day in November. She posted a selfie in front of a mirror, showing off her growing belly with a “voted” sticker.
Naomi and Peter, a lawyer, were married in November 2022 on the South Lawn of the White House. It was the first wedding of a sitting president’s grandson to take place at the White House in nearly a decade.
President Biden, who has five children and seven grandchildren, has repeatedly emphasized how close his relationship is with his grandchildren. On the SmartLess podcast in 2022, he said: “They drive me crazy, and I drive them crazy. I connect with each of my grandchildren every day.”
We remind you that Biden signed a document pardoning his son Hunter, who was involved in a case of weapons violations and tax evasion. He faces up to twenty-five years in prison and a $750,000 fine. After that, the case was closed.
