The country’s Defense Ministry said it has already trained 26,000 Ukrainian military personnel and intends to continue such training.
The facts of the evacuation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not affect Poland’s plans for further training of the Ukrainian military. This was said by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk, Radio Liberty reports.
Commenting on information about the flight of Ukrainian military personnel from training in Europe, the official stressed that desertion and lack of subordination occurs in any army in the world.
“We are the country that trained the largest number of Ukrainian military personnel. Now it is more than 26 thousand. Are there people in a group of 26 thousand who have other plans or believe that their future is not in the Ukrainian army? Perhaps, such things happen, a large group of people is enough.
According to him, the facts of the flight will not in any way affect the cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in matters of military exercises.
“We are doing everything to help the Ukrainian side, so that Ukraine knows that they can count on us and we prefer to train Ukrainian soldiers in Poland so that they can defend their country. I think it is clear that the cases of desertion and it happens in every army of the world. If (such incidents – ed.) happen in the case of Ukraine, then it is a marginal thing, which does not have any impact on the training of the Ukrainian military in Poland,” added the Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland.
When a journalist asked if there were any requests from the Ukrainian side about the escape of Ukrainian military personnel while traveling to France or back, Cezary Tomchik replied: “I don’t remember that.”
In the past, information was released about the improper formation and provision of the new 155th Separate Infantry Brigade named Anna Kievskaya. Desertion and SOCH have been reported, especially while studying in France.
