The new US administration will likely offer a different form of aid to Ukraine, the Polish Defense Minister predicts.
Tomorrow’s meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format may be the last. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said this at a press conference, 300 Polityka reported on Wednesday, January 8.
The minister recalled that the format of Ramstein is wider than that of NATO.
“The creator of this is Lloyd Austin, the current Secretary of Defense of the United States, first of all, for his uncompromising support for Poland, for the presence of American troops in Poland, for supporting Ukraine, for in joint initiatives, said the minister.
Kosinyak-Kamysh added that “this may be the last meeting of this kind, because the new US administration is likely to propose a different form of this activity.”
“I believe that NATO should take a big burden, as it has taken a big burden now, starting this year, in the activities related to the defense of the airport in Jasionka,” he said.
The minister recalled that Poland led the coalition of armored forces with Germany and Italy, so at the meeting he planned to show the successes achieved already during the three years of the war in Ukraine, how much help was given.
We remind you that the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has already gone to Germany at the Ramstein Air Base to participate in the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
