In the second half of 2024, the price of extra-grade raw milk in Ukraine increased by almost 45% and exceeded 20 UAH/kg. This caused an increase in the price of dairy products and, as a result, an increase in their imports. All this has led to a reduction in the competitiveness of Russian dairy producers, especially cheese producers, in the domestic market.
At the same time, the export volume of dairy products decreased rapidly – from $20 million in June-November to $16 million in December.
Import figures in December were 2.4 times higher than export figures, which was a record amount during the martial law period in Ukraine.
