UAVs attacked the city of Engels in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation.
On the night of December 8, drones in Engels heard about 25 powerful explosions, the flashes from which were visible in many parts of the city. Later, a large fire broke out in the area of the oil depot. This was reported by Russian propaganda media.
Local publicists reported that at least 30 drones were used in the attack.
Local governor Roman Busargin announced the “downing of drones.” He acknowledged the fire was at an industrial site, but said there was “impact of debris.”
As you know, near Engels there is a Russian air base of the same name, where the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS long-range strategic bombers are based, with which the Russians attack Ukraine.
The monitoring Telegram channel “Crimean Wind” informed that we are talking about the Kristall oil complex of Rosrezerv. This is a federal government agency where aviation fuel for the Engels-2 airbase is stored.
The network also writes about a fire at the Engels-2 airfield. Probably one of the bombers caught fire. However, this information requires confirmation.
Let us recall that on the night of December 31, units of the Special Operations Forces, in cooperation with the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military personnel, attacked the Yartsevskaya oil depot in the Smolensk region, which was used to supply the Russian army.
