Europe is much stronger than the Kremlin believes, and Russia is weaker than many Europeans believe.
European countries may soon find themselves “under intense pressure” to reach an agreement with Russia. This was announced on Monday, January 6, by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski at X.
He stressed that the European Union would not agree to a deal that would allow Russia to strengthen and renew itself.
“Soon we may be under strong pressure to reach an agreement with Moscow. But what kind of agreement can a reasonable Europe agree to, of course, not a simple agreement that will allow Moscow to recover,” Sikorsky emphasized.
He noted that Europe is stronger than Moscow believes, while Russia is weaker than many Europeans think:
“Ukraine deserves peace, it needs peace. But it must be peace on fair terms, not surrender. We must not impose strict time limits on our support, because this will encourage Russia to continue to fight. But we have to do everything possible to improve Kyiv’s position in the upcoming negotiations,” he said.
The previous day, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said when negotiations with Russia would be possible at the end of the war. In his opinion, this issue should be discussed first with Trump and European leaders, and only then with the Russian detector Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, Zelensky said there would be no freeze in the war with Russia.
