Macron accused Musk of meddling in European politics

Elon Musk is trying to interfere in the politics of some European countries and supports the international reactionary movement. French President Emmanuel Macron announced this on Monday, January 6, Politico reports.

“Who would have thought ten years ago if we were told that the owner of one of the largest social networks in the world would support a new international reactionary movement and directly interfere in elections, especially in Germany,” said the French leader in his speech at the Elysee Palace.

The publication recalled that Macron and Musk had a rather warm relationship. The billionaire joined newly elected US President Donald Trump at the opening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in December 2024, and last week donated 100 Starlink terminals to the French territory of Mayotte, which was hit by the storm.

In addition, Macron invited Musk and Trump to Paris for an artificial intelligence summit to be held in February. Also, the French President has repeatedly said that he wants to work with the new US administration.

American billionaire Elon Musk criticized the leader of the British party Reform UK, Nigel Farage, on his social network X. In particular, Musk wrote that Reform UK “needs a new leader” and Farage ” have no necessary skills.”

In the past, Musk called Scholz an “idiot” after the collapse of the coalition in Germany. In addition, the businessman suggested that the AfD seems to be the only one capable of solving the problems facing Germany. These statements come amid preparations for parliamentary elections in Germany scheduled for February 2025.
