The Armed Forces of Ukraine deny the complete loss of Kurakhovoy in the Donetsk region.
The Ukrainian army, represented by the command of the operational-strategic group of troops “Khortitsa”, despite data from various sources on both sides, denies that the Russian army has completely occupied the city of Kurakhovo, claiming that fighting is still ongoing in urban areas.
Urban battles continue in Kurakhovo, the city is in a dilapidated state. As of the morning of January 6, fighting was taking place within its borders, Viktor Tregubov, speaker of the OSV Khortitsa, told Public Donbass.
In the Kurakhovsky direction, the enemy is carrying out assault operations in the urban areas of Kurakhov, in the direction of Petropavlovka and Dachnoye. Activities are continuing to identify and destroy enemy assault groups that are trying to infiltrate our battle formations, the Khortitsa statement says.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the complete capture of the city of Kurakhovo on Monday. On the map of the Ukrainian DeepState project, only the industrial zone to the west of the Kurakhov residential area remains partially in the “gray zone”; the rest are under the control of the Russians.
The fighting within Kurakhov continued for two months from the beginning of November.
The most intense clashes continued in the industrial zone of the Kurakhovskaya Thermal Power Plant and the pipe plant in the western outskirts of the city.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not yet commented on the Russian side’s statement. On the morning of January 6, they reported 27 military clashes in the Kurakhovsky direction.
