The president of the unrecognized “Transnistria” Vasily Krasnoselsky suggested that residents of the republic use firewood to keep warm, since the gas supply there had disappeared.
He also said that there are heating points in Pridnestrovie.
Let us remind you that on January 1, Ukraine officially stopped the transportation of Russian gas through its territory.
In the unrecognized Transnistria they refused Moldova’s help in purchasing gas from European markets, expecting that the Russian Gazprom would resume supplies.
In a response sent on January 2, the so-called “authorities” of Transnistria rejected the proposal, saying it would lead to gas purchases at “higher and unstable” prices.
Earlier, Moldovagaz offered the management of the Transnistrian Tiraspoltransgaz assistance in purchasing gas through European platforms after the region found itself without Russian gas supplies since January 1.
Emergency power outages began in Transnistria due to an increase in the load on the power grid caused by a heating shutdown
The Transnistrian network operator Unified Electricity Distribution Networks (EDES) reported that electricity consumption by the population increased by 1.5-2 times. At the same time, 12 emergency crews are traveling to repair the damage.
Electricity tariffs are doubling in Moldova. An expected decision, given that electricity supplies from Transnistria have decreased. However, the consequences should be considered.
An increase in tariffs could hit the ratings of the pro-European authorities in Moldova, primarily the ruling PAS party. At the same time, the ratings of pro-Russian forces will increase.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Moldova in 2025. The formation of a pro-Russian government in Moldova is negative for Ukraine and our national security, as well as for European integration.
