Citizens liable for military service who previously had the status of “limitedly suitable” must re-pass the military medical commission by February 5.
On May 4, 2024, Law of Ukraine No. 3621-IX came into force, which abolished the status of “limitedly fit” and defined the concept of suitability, “partial” suitability and unsuitability for service.
The same law provided for a period of 9 months for those liable for military service with the status of “limitedly fit” to undergo a second medical examination by military medical commissions and receive one of the current statuses, which will automatically be added to the “Reserve+” application. will indicate a complete update of military registration data for this category of citizens.
Current statuses can be like this:
- fit for military service;
- suitable for service in military support units, TCC and SP, higher military educational institutions and institutions;
- temporarily unfit, requiring treatment, leave or dismissal;
- unsuitable with review after 6-12 months;
-
unfit for military service with exclusion from military registration.
At the end of 2024, the Ministry of Defense reminded that after changes in legislation, the term “limitedly suitable” no longer exists. Many citizens previously received this status, so before February 5, 2025 they must undergo a review at the VLK. This applies to both active military personnel and civilians liable for military service, said Colonel Dmitry Miroshnichenko.
Consequently, the head of the TsVLK noted that more than 83% of Ukrainian military personnel have already undergone a re-medical examination after the official cancellation of the “limitedly fit” status.
According to Miroshnichenko, closer to the areas of direct combat operations, the revision rate is even higher and amounts to more than 90%.
At the same time, the process of reviewing civilians liable for military service “is stretched out a little over time.” After all, the number of such citizens is greater than the number of military personnel, and they should be reviewed by the TCC and SP commission.
Miroshnichenko did not indicate the percentage of citizens liable for military service who have already undergone review, but noted that this process continues, although more slowly than with military personnel.
