European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has contracted a severe form of pneumonia. Politico wrote this on Friday, December 3.
His diagnosis was confirmed by European Commission Speaker Stefan de Keijersmaeker. He explained that due to illness, von der Leyen would not be able to attend the event marking the start of Poland’s presidency of the EU.
“The President has canceled events in the first two weeks of January. He is dealing with severe pneumonia. Among the canceled meetings are a speech in Lisbon and a planned trip to Gdansk to mark the start of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, which will happen later,” he said.
