The armored protection for the control module of the MIM-104 Patriot complex was manufactured by the Metinvest group. Engineers have already mounted the first armor on the working module for controlling the air defense system.
The group’s press service reported this on January 3.
The armored shell protected the brain center of the Patriot air defense system, which controls the air defense system.
The crew’s protection against debris is made of 30ХН2МА steel, which is characterized by increased wear resistance, strength, toughness and resistance to mechanical loads, the report says.
The shell consists of almost 200 elements – armored steel plates up to 8 mm thick, protecting the control center of the air defense complex.
The total weight of the shell exceeds 2.6 tons, but the group assures that this “does not in any way affect the functionality or mobility of the complex.”
