In 2024, citizens of Ukraine invested a record amount of funds in domestic government loan bonds (OVGZ) – UAH 639.5 billion. The Ministry of Finance announced this on Friday, January 3.
“This is more than UAH 73 billion more than in 2023, indicating the growing interest of Ukrainians in government bonds,” the statement said.
As of December 30, 2024, Ukrainians own bonds totaling UAH 1.84 trillion.
The department noted that these funds provide the Defense Forces with everything they need and are used to purchase weapons, ammunition, drones, clothing, food and medicine.
Let’s recall that in October the Ministry of Finance obtained a record amount from the issue of government bonds – equal to 106.9 billion UAH, of which 82.8 billion UAH were war bonds. Then the yield on hryvnia government bonds was 15.6%, and on dollars – 4.62%.
It was also found that Ukrainians began to buy bonds more. This trend has been going on for several months now.
