The suspect in the mass killings in the Montenegrin city of Cetinje, Aco Martinovic, died from injuries received in a suicide attempt. This was reported on the evening of Wednesday, January 1, by Vijesti with reference to the Minister of Internal Affairs Daniil Sharanovich.
Police said he was found in the Chumtsa area of Cetinje. He shot himself in the head and died from his injuries on the way to the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
“They surrounded him, created a ring. He found himself in a hopeless situation, surrounded on all sides, and after the order to give up his weapon, he shot himself in the head. After receiving injury, they tried to take him to KCCG , but he died on the way,” said police director Lazar Shchepanovich .
He thanked Martinovic’s family for their help in his search and rescue.
“They reported that he had some deviations in communication, and all those who died were his godfathers, friends or acquaintances with whom he spent most of his time. The motive for this action is still unknown,” added Shchepanovich.
