In Poland, a drunk military man, not far from the Belarusian border, opened fire on a civilian vehicle with his service weapon. The incident took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 1, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported.
It is known that no one was killed as a result of the incident, and the military man is in custody.
According to the order, in the village of Melnik, Podlasie Voivodeship, border with Belarus, a serviceman of the 18th Mechanized Division, performing tasks as part of Operation Safe Podlasie, left the territory of a military camp without permission and fired a civilian car with his service weapon, and then fled to the nearest forest.
“As a result of the immediate search, he was immediately detained by the servicemen of the operational group in Melnik. No third parties were injured as a result of the incident, according to preliminary data, the soldier was drunk,” the command reported.
The military gendarmerie in Bialystok is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
