The changes will take effect on January 1, 2025 and will apply to people who entered into a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense while in prisons or colonies.
The Russian government has changed the payment procedure for citizens who signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense to participate in the war in Ukraine. Now lump sum payments are no longer given to people who entered into a contract while in prisons or colonies. This was reported by RosSMI on Tuesday, December 31.
The Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin signed the corresponding order on December 28, which was published on the portal of legal actions on December 30 and will take effect on January 1, 2025.
The ability to enter into a military contract and avoid criminal liability for those in prison was introduced in 2023. In March 2024, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law allowing the release from liability of suspected persons, accused or convicted of crimes of minor and moderate gravity.
We remind you that the State Duma rejected the bill on deferment from mobilization for parents with many children. One of the reasons for rejecting the postponement in Russia is the risk of “reduction in reserve personnel.”
Earlier, the media wrote that the Russian Federation will be forced to announce another wave of mobilization before the end of 2024, despite the fact that its numbers are now greater than Ukraine’s.
