Deputies elected a new chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council. This is war veteran Bogdan Butkovsky.
Veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Svoboda member Bohdan Butkovsky was elected chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council, Ukrinform reported on Monday, December 30.
He was the only candidate nominated for this post. The 38-year-old Butkovsky was supported by 45 deputies out of 56 present in the session hall.
Butkovsky is a participant in the Revolution of Dignity, a volunteer, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2014-2015 and 2022-2024. Awarded the Golden Cross by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. A historian by education. He was twice elected as a representative of the regional council in 2015 and 2020.
We remind you that previously the Ternopil Regional Council was headed by Mikhail Golovko. In June, Golovko and two of his deputies were exposed for taking bribes of 2.4 million hryvnias. Ternopil regional council representatives voted for his dismissal in October.
Later, the court reinstated Golovko as chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council. And the deputies let him go again.
