From 2022 to 2024, direct budget support for Ukraine from the United States has exceeded $30 billion.
The United States will allocate $15 billion to Ukraine, secured by future income from fixed assets of the Russian Federation. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal announced this on Telegram on Monday, December 30.
“The corresponding agreement was signed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and the World Bank. These will be funds under the PEACE project in Ukraine and part of the US contribution in the amount of $20 billion under the G7 initiative, which will be used for at social and humanitarian costs,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister thanked the United States and the World Bank for implementing and supporting the initiative, which “makes Russia pay for its aggression against Ukraine.”
The Ministry of Finance clarified that funds from the United States within the framework of PEACE in Ukraine will be directed to:
-
payment of wages to health care workers, education workers, first responders and government employees;
-
assistance to low-income families, IDPs, people with disabilities, as well as families with children (pregnancy and childbirth, birth, adoption, single mothers).
The department also noted that from 2022 to 2024, direct budget support for Ukraine from the United States exceeded $30 billion.
We remind you that last week the United States began paying money to Ukraine within the debt limits of $20 billion. The first tranche amounted to $1 billion.
Earlier, Shmygal said that by 2024, direct budget support from Western countries will reach $41 billion. Next year, $38 billion is expected to be received and payments of frozen assets of the Russian Federation are expected.
