European Commission official dies from shark attack in Egypt

Due to the shark attack, the Egyptian authorities closed the swimming area for two days – December 30th and 31st.

An Italian tourist working for the European Commission died in a shark attack in the Red Sea in Egypt. ANSA reported this.

The incident happened while diving on Sunday, December 29. The predator also injured another Italian tourist who was next to the deceased.

European Commission employee Gianluca Di Gioii is 48 years old and is on vacation in Egypt with his family.

The man lived in France, worked for the European Commission at the Joint Research Center.

It will be remembered that in Indonesia, a fisherman who caught a shark discovered the remains of a woman in its stomach. And in Jamaica, a shark attacked a 16-year-old boy while fishing.
