The Polish government is ready to increase domestic electricity production to compensate for any imbalances if Slovakia decides to cut off supplies to Ukraine.
Poland has announced its readiness to increase electricity exports to Ukraine if Slovakia cuts supplies amid a gas dispute. Bloomberg reported this on Sunday, December 29.
The agency’s source noted that the Polish government is ready to increase domestic electricity production to compensate for any imbalances if Slovakia decides to stop the supply to Ukraine.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico recently said the country would cut power supplies needed by Ukraine during the blackout if necessary.
Bratislava remains dependent on cheap gas from Russia’s Gazprom, undermining EU efforts to reduce Russia’s energy dependence.
We remind you that earlier it became known that Robert Fico is threatening Ukraine with a power outage due to the cessation of Russian gas transit.
This happened after Fico flew to Moscow on December 22 and met with Putin. The main issue is the provision of gas in Slovakia. From January 1, transit to Ukraine must be stopped. After this meeting, Fico made a statement, and in Slovakia his visit to Moscow was criticized.
Subsequently, the head of the Ukrainian state considered the threats of the Slovak prime minister as an order from the master of the Kremlin to “open a second field of energy.”
