Warsaw believes that the regime of Alexander Lukashenko is deliberately organizing the migration crisis, calling it a “hybrid war.”
Poland plans to finish building a border wall with Belarus by the summer of 2025 to stem the flow of illegal migrants. The Financial Times reported this on Sunday, December 29.
Poland’s Deputy Minister for Migration Maciej Duszczyk noted that after the completion of the construction, the security of the Belarusian border, whose length is 418 km, “will be close to one hundred percent.”
The previous Polish government built a fence 180 km long and 5.5 meters high on the border with Belarus.
Newly appointed head of government Donald Tusk has not only extended the wall, but is also installing night vision cameras and thermal imagers on the border and creating a new route for patrolling the border zone.
The country currently spends 587 million euros for border protection, half of which is allocated by the Tusk government.
Poland began building a fence on the border with Belarus in 2021. Warsaw believes that Alexander Lukashenko’s regime is deliberately orchestrating a migration crisis, calling it a “hybrid war.”
We remind you that Poland will provide a defense budget of $46 billion in 2025, which will amount to 4.7% of the country’s GDP.
It was previously reported that Poland plans to invest $750 million to increase ammunition production in the event of a Russian invasion.
