The British Foreign Office noted dictator Vladimir Putin’s apology to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev after the December 25 downing of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane in Kazakhstan. The diplomats’ reaction on Saturday, December 28, was reported by Sky.news.
The Foreign Ministry noted that in a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Putin did not acknowledge the Russian Federation’s responsibility for what he called a “tragic incident.”
“In his apology, Putin does not acknowledge that the reckless and irresponsible actions of the Russian state pose a serious and direct threat to the interests and national security of other states,” a British Foreign Office spokesman said. .
Britain said it demanded a fair and independent investigation into the plane crash.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the three crew members and 21 passengers who died in the crash of the Embraer-190 plane were delivered to Baku on the night of December 28. The plane with the bodies landed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Before this, on December 26, 14 victims and the bodies of four dead were delivered to Azerbaijan.
As is known, on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan, flying on a Baku-Grozny flight. Then 38 people died. A total of 67 people were on board, mostly Azerbaijani citizens.
Later, the media reported that the plane was attacked on approach to Grozny by a missile from the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft complex. After that, the Russians banned the crew from landing at Russian airfields and jammed electronic warfare communications, hoping the plane would crash into the Caspian Sea.
Just today, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin called Aliyev on the phone and apologized for the “tragic incident in Russian airspace.” At the same time, the Kremlin press service did not say a word about what exactly caused the plane crash.
