Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which the issue of the accident of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane on December 25 flying to Grozny was “discussed in detail.”
The Kremlin press service reports this.
It is noted that the conversation took place “at the initiative of the Russian side” and during the course of the conversation “he apologized due to the fact that the tragic incident occurred in Russian airspace.”
“In the conversation, it was noted that the Azerbaijani passenger aircraft, which was flying strictly according to schedule, repeatedly tried to land at the airport in Grozny. Currently, Grozny, Mozdok and Vladikavkaz have attacked Ukrainian combat unmanned aerial vehicles, and Russian air defense systems have repelled these attacks,” the report says.
Thus, Putin did not directly admit Russia’s responsibility for shooting down a civilian plane.
The Kremlin press service also reported that two employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan are currently in Grozny.
Türkiye will help investigate the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane, a surviving flight attendant spoke out.
