Russia is expanding drone production at the Alabuga plant in Tatarstan.
Two additional buildings and ground passages were built on the territory of the enterprise, which increased the area of the complex by 55%. The plant also tightened security after Ukrainian drone strikes. CNN reported this on December 27, citing satellite images.
It is noted that Alabuga fulfilled a contract a year earlier for the production of 6 thousand UAVs of the Shahed-136 type. The plant has also been producing low-tech drone baits known as “Gerber” since the summer. By the end of this year, the Russians want to produce about 10 thousand of these drones.
CNN also indicates that the drones at the plant are produced using Chinese components and low-skilled workers from among Russian teenagers and African women.
Let us recall that in October the media reported that Russia was deceiving 18-year-old African, Latina and Asian women to assemble UAVs. Due to advertising on social networks, young foreign women were promised a free flight, financial assistance and an internship in Europe if they passed a Russian language test. However, upon arrival in Tatarstan, the women learned that their job would be to gather “martyrs” for the war against Ukraine.
