Reinoldus Rescue officials discovered the trophy, engraved with the year 2023, during an inspection.
A scandal broke out in the German city of Unna (North Rhine-Westphalia) because of the daring work of the Reinoldus rescue service. The employees compiled a so-called “black list”, in which they noted the number of deaths in each 24-hour shift. The winner with the most deaths received a transition trophy, reports a German tabloid BUILD on Thursday, December 26th.
The situation became known thanks to an anonymous message from one of the employees. Company management discovered the trophy with the year 2023 engraved on it during an inspection.
The list only includes the names of employees and the number of tags, with no mention of patients or specific events.
The “competition” organizer no longer works for the company. Some employees were transferred to other facilities, and their managers were removed from their positions and reprimanded.
The workers insisted they did not celebrate the death toll, the award was only seen as “a trophy for the most difficult experience.”
The company’s management has assured that it is doing everything to prevent such incidents in the future.
Despite the annoying “competition”, there were no complaints about the professionalism of the employees during the rescue operations.
We remind you that on December 20, in Magdeburg, Germany, a car ran into many people at a Christmas market. Five people died and more than 200 were injured.
Among the victims was a 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen. The woman is in serious condition.
