WINNER’s Mino is officially indicted for possible rape in military service

Following allegations of a possible breach in his military service, South Korean police have launched a formal investigation into WINNER’s Mino

Last week, it was reported by the South Korean press that Song Minoa member of WINNER, was reportedly being investigated for possible negligence due to neglecting his duties in mandatory military service, before being discharged last Monday, the 23rd.

Although YG Entertainment, the company responsible for the artist, denied that the idol had neglected his obligations, this Thursday, the 26th, the Seoul Mapo Police revealed that the singer was officially indicted on December 23rd after the Military Manpower Administration (MMA ) request an investigation into the matter. In a statement, the MMA said:

“We requested a police investigation into Song Mino for violating the Military Service Act. After conducting an internal review, we determined that certain matters required additional confirmation from the police.”

Currently, the police are still investigating whether Mino actually neglected his military service, and should summon the artist to provide clarification soon. According to information shared by Soompi, if the accusations are confirmed, the WINNER member’s discharge will have to be revoked, and he will return to the army to serve additional time.

It is worth remembering that Song Mino began his mandatory military enlistment on March 24, 2023, being assigned to the position of public servant due to unspecified physical conditions. After completing his basic training period, the star began his service at Mapo Facilities Management Corporation, where he served for a year before being transferred to the Resident Welfare Facility, where he remained until his discharge.

The accusations of alleged negligence stem from the period when the idol worked at Mapo Facilities Management Corporation, where, as reported by Soompi, Mino allegedly facilitated the falsification of the attendance list by filling it out manually, in addition to frequently being absent, justifying his absences as “sick leave or annual vacation”.

In response to the allegations, YG Entertainment stated that “It is difficult for us to confirm specific details about the streaming service. Song Mino. However, the medical leave was an extension of the treatment he was receiving prior to his service. All other licenses, including annual licenses, were used in accordance with regulations.”.
