The government is resisting the purchase of Ukrainian-made drones and electronic warfare.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution making the purchase of domestically produced unmanned systems and electronic warfare equipment on a permanent basis. This should speed up procurement of these systems. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on Facebook.
The head of the defense department noted that the corresponding decision ensures efficiency in the delivery of necessary technologies to the front and supports Ukrainian manufacturers, providing them with the opportunity for stable development and improvement of products.
According to him, commanders of military units will be allowed to purchase drones and tactical-level electronic warfare without unnecessary bureaucratic approvals from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military command and control bodies.
In addition, it is envisaged to expand access to framework agreements: military units can join agreements concluded by procurement agencies of the Ministry of Defense and the State Service for Special Communications. This will allow the army to receive equipment faster and at competitive prices.
Let us recall that in early December, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Mikhail Fedorov, reported that in 2025 the first real use of a swarm of drones by the Ukrainian Defense Forces could take place. Ukrainian engineers are also working on drones to intercept long-range attack drones such as Shahed.
