The National Antarctic Science Center showed the longest daylight hours – it lasted 22 hours and 25 minutes.
In Antarctica, December 21 was the summer solstice. The sun began to set at 2:02 a.m. and set on December 22 at 12:27 a.m. Before this, the length of the day was constantly increasing, but now, on the contrary, it is decreasing.
This will happen until June 20, when the shortest day will be – almost 3 hours 24 minutes. Then it will increase again.
The day of December 20 was shorter by only 10 seconds, and December 22 by 36 seconds.
But if until December 21 the length of the day was constantly increasing, now, on the contrary, it is decreasing. This will happen until June 20, when our island of Galindez will have the shortest day – almost 3 hours 24 minutes. Then it will increase again.
