18-year-old Alexander Yakushchenko, taken to Russia from an orphanage in the Kherson region, committed suicide in a foster family in the Krasnodar region of Russia.
This is stated in the investigation of the publication “Important Stories”.
Alexander, together with his younger sister Christina, lived in a family-type house in the village of Tokarevka, Kherson region. The children were taken from the family due to their parents’ alcoholism problem.
During the occupation of part of the Kherson region, the head of the institution, Lydia Sharvarly, began to cooperate with the Russians. And after the liberation of the lands from the occupiers, she left for Russia, taking her children with her. Ukraine considers them missing.
In Russia, she abandoned her charges. One of her former pupils, Sergei Manchenko, said that after reaching adulthood he received 6 thousand from Sharvarly. I haven’t seen rubles or more exopicuns.
At the same time, according to him, the woman also signed up for assistance, which should be given to the children as migrants from the Kherson region for the purchase of housing.
From Alexander’s death certificate in January 2024, it is known that he lived in the village of Akhtanizovsky, Krasnodar Territory, with an “experienced” family.
They reported that the guy hanged himself a few kilometers from his new home – his body was discovered by workers on their way to their shift in the morning. The guy did not leave a suicide note, and a phone nearby was dismantled, from which all data had been erased.
Alexander’s adoptive family does not know the reasons for his suicide, claiming that he simply lived with them because he had nowhere to go. The guy also told his new classmates in Russia that no one needed him.
Alexander’s own mother said that her son promised to come to her in Ukraine before the New Year, but already in February she learned about his suicide.
