The parcel was almost completely destroyed: it contained bottles with flammable liquid and a detonator, law enforcement officials said.
A fire broke out at the postal center in Greven near Munster on Saturday, December 21. The cause of the incident was a parcel burning device, reports the German magazine Spiegel.
The firemen quickly extinguished the fire. There was no damage to the building and no one was injured.
Right now, law enforcement has nothing to say about the sender or the recipient, as the parcel was nearly destroyed. It contains bottles of flammable liquid and a detonator.
Additionally, nothing was found to indicate a motive. Investigators are trying to trace the package’s path.
It will also check for similarities in similar incidents.
We previously wrote that Germany miraculously avoided a plane crash in July when a cargo package transported by DHL caught fire. It was probably a Russian sabotage.
