China continues to supply dual-use goods to Russia, US Ambassador to the UN Robert Wood said.
The United States has accused China of supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine. Washington believes that Beijing’s actions are contrary to its peace messages. This was announced by the US Permanent Representative to the UN Robert Wood at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
“China told this Council that the sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected but if it is serious about it, it will use its influence to prevent the Russian Federation from violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the diplomat emphasized.
China continues to supply Russia with dual-use goods supported by the Russian military-industrial complex. We are talking about materials for making bombs, spare parts for cars, equipment for weapons factories, as well as technologies for drones and missiles.
“Beijing’s continued exports show tacit approval of Russia’s war,” Wood said.
China does not use its influence in a constructive way, provides political cover for Russia, repeats Kremlin propaganda and effectively ignores the UN Charter, he added.
“If China really wants a “peaceful resolution” to Russia’s war against Ukraine, it should stop providing support to the Russian military machine, impose sanctions on the Russian Federation, call on Moscow to withdraw troops of it, and show leadership to the international community as a permanent member of this Council responsible for upholding the principles of the UN Charter.”
Let’s remember that, according to US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell, China is giving Russia “very significant” help to strengthen the Kremlin’s military machine in exchange for secret Russian military technologies of submarines and missiles.
