Retro, funny, romantic… whatever it is, when it comes to Christmas movies, it’s not about aesthetic standards, but first of all about rediscovered emotions. Today, the comedian and actress returns to her favorite Marie Antoinetteby Sofia Coppola (2006).

“I was 23 when the film came out, and I completely identified with the emancipation of this young Marie-Antoinette, played on screen by Kirsten Dunst. The film portrays a woman trapped in a relationship where her partner, Louis XVI, does not want him. I was in the same position at the time… The story echoed my own life, this feeling of being physically rejected by others. It was like a revelation, and I took to it immediately.

I like the silences of this film, the whispered dialogues, the economy of words exchanged between the actors. We look at the images, as in a beautiful book, touch the fabrics with our eyes, admire the colors, with this incredible feeling of understanding everything without words. In particular, there’s this scene where Kirsten Dunst stops crying while running through the endless corridors of the Palace of Versailles before hiding behind a door and crying…

It’s so strong. After nearly twenty years, it still has the same comforting power over me. I can watch it over and over again, especially during the holiday season. I spend Christmas with my parents, where I grew up. It is a very important, relaxing, happy moment for me. My family is not the type to throw a log in each other’s faces at dessert time. And I must have a little Bridget Jones side because until recently my mother bought me my Christmas outfit every year.

I admit I’ve had wraps. On the menu, we avoid tripe, gras-double, and other Lyon specialties. We’re more on the traditional side, obviously with puff pastry as an aperitif (my father’s family is over seventy worked with frozen products for years), oysters, smoked salmon, gratin dauphinois, sea bass and, as dessert, log without. forgetting the army of papillotes.’
