The President encouraged the Ukrainian boxer ahead of an important fight in his career – a rematch with Fury.
In a video call, President Vladimir Zelensky asked boxer Oleksandr Usik to win his rematch with Briton Tyson Fury, which will take place on December 21 in Saudi Arabia. The head of state published a video from a conversation with the world champion on Telegram on December 20.
“In any case, we keep our fingers crossed for you. I really want success for Ukraine, and every success of yours gives mood, inspires Ukrainians. We are all big fans of your talent, courage, and your success. All Ukrainians are one hundred percent on your side,” – said Zelensky.
The President also jokingly asked Usyk not to forget that Great Britain is our partner.
“Of course, Britain is helping Ukraine in the fight against Russia, we respect our partners, so when you defeat the Fury, there won’t be much… so they don’t ban us from using Storm Shadow missiles,” Zelensky said .
In response, Usik assured that the conversation was only about sports, and he also jokingly answered.
“If you need any physical strength in communicating with international partners, Vladimir Alexandrovich, then I am always ready, stop geolocation,” said the boxer.
We remind you that on December 21 there will be a rematch in the super heavyweight division between the world champion, Ukrainian Alexander Usik and Briton Tyson Fury.
The fight will take place in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, with the belt at stake according to the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Council (WBC).
The Ukrainian champion is considered a favorite among bookmakers, and it is his chances of winning that are considered somewhat greater.
