Funding will come through the International Fund for Ukraine, which is led by the UK Ministry of Defence.
The Norwegian government has allocated more than $230 million in military support to Ukraine. The government press service reported this on Friday, December 20.
It is indicated that a package of international aid to Ukraine will be financed, which includes:
-
about $115 million for equipment to strengthen the Ukrainian Navy, including small boats, surveillance drones, unmanned surface ships and anti-mine drones;
-
about $85 million for air defense capabilities, including radars, ground-based camouflage equipment and electronic warfare systems against drones;
-
approximately $32.5 million to provide support and spare parts for critical systems previously provided to Ukraine.
“The war in Ukraine does not stop, and the need for military equipment is critical,” said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram.
The funds will come through The International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), a UK-led support funding mechanism. The fund includes Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania. These countries, as well as Iceland, Australia and New Zealand, have pledged more than $1.6 billion.
It was previously reported that Norway will allocate 2.7 billion kroner ($242 million) to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet and contain Russian naval forces in the Black Sea.
