22.5 thousand individual entrepreneurs have ceased their activities since the signing of the law on increasing taxes. This is Opendatabot data.
In the first days, the number of closures reached more than 1,000 daily, and on November 29, the day the law was signed, 2,332 closed businesses were recorded.
A total of 254 thousand 288 individual entrepreneurs have ceased their activities since the beginning of 2024. The largest number of closures occurred in March – 28,690, but bursts of activity were also observed at the end of reporting periods. This is explained by the desire of entrepreneurs to avoid unnecessary tax obligations and simplify accounting reporting.
The adoption of a tax increase law played a significant role in the surge in business closures in the fall. Some entrepreneurs consider the new taxes unfair, while officials note low rates compared to the EU.
Changes to the tax code will come into force on January 1. Payment of the unified social contribution for individual entrepreneurs of group 3 will be mandatory, and entrepreneurs will also pay a military tax.
In addition, seven large banks of Ukraine are preparing to sign a memorandum on strengthening restrictions on card-to-card transfers. Banks also want to strengthen financial monitoring of individual entrepreneurs in order to focus on the requirements of European Union legislation.
