The North Atlantic Alliance took over coordination of Western military aid to Ukraine from the United States. Reuters reports this with reference to its own sources.
We are talking about starting the work of the NATO Security and Training Assistance Center for Ukraine (NSATU). Alliance leaders agreed to establish the Center at a summit in Washington in July 2024.
It noted that the Center at the American military base in the German city of Wiesbaden is “fully operational.”
The total strength of NSATU is planned to be around 700 troops, including troops stationed at NATO’s SHAPE military headquarters in Belgium and logistics centers in Poland and Romania.
Called, in particular, to coordinate training and the supply of weapons to Ukraine, NSATU plays a major role for NATO in helping Kyiv against Russian aggression.
As we have already written, the Foreign Ministry said that Ukraine refuses to accept any alternatives to joining NATO, due to the “bitter experience” of the Budapest Memorandum.
