Trump’s envoy intends to visit Ukraine and Russia to hear the position of both sides and prepare proposals for the US President.
Keith Kellogg, who will be appointed by US President-elect Donald Trump as special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, believes that the war in Ukraine can be “resolved” within the next few months. He said this on Friday, December 13, on the Fox News channel.
“When it comes to Ukraine and Russia, I really believe that this will be resolved within the next few months. The only person who can do it is President Trump, and he will do it. They’re tired of killing each other there,” Kellogg said.
He also said he was considering visiting Ukraine and Russia, although he emphasized that the president-elect’s administration does not have the authority to negotiate:
“We’re looking at some plans to go and just listen… Not to negotiate because we’re not part of the government yet, but to really listen to these people. We’re looking at a schedule for the near future to do it in the near term and have the right elements that we can present it to President Trump so that President Trump can decide what he wants to do,” Kellogg said.
Answering a question about whether Trump might invite the presidents of Ukraine and Russia to his inauguration, Kellogg did not exclude this possibility.
It was previously reported that the Trump team was in talks with the White House and Ukrainian officials on ways to end the war with Russia.
