The President of Ukraine discussed with his Finnish counterpart the strengthening of air defense.

The leader of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, spoke by phone with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb. The head of state announced this on Telegram on Friday, December 13.

“We discussed the consequences of this morning’s massive Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which once again demonstrated the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities,” the president said.

Zelensky thanked Finland for its readiness to strengthen Ukrainian air defense capabilities.

“It is important for us that Finland strongly supports Ukraine’s sovereign right to choose its own future without outside interference, in particular, our choice to join the EU and NATO,” added the head of state.

The parties also agreed on the need to provide Ukraine with real and effective security guarantees to achieve stability and lasting peace.

Let’s remember that earlier the President of Finland agreed to give Ukraine a new aid package worth 25 million euros.

As reported, Ukraine and Finland have created a civil defense coalition to build a system of modern shelters.
