The Christmas table in Ukraine this year has risen in price by 41% than in 2023.
The average family will have to spend about 1 thousand 365 UAH on products to prepare 12 traditional dishes on Christmas Eve. This amount, calculated based on average supermarket prices as of the beginning of December, includes the preparation of the following dishes: kutia and compote, fried fish, vinaigrette, dumplings (with potatoes, cabbage, cherries), stewed cabbage, lean borscht with beans, fried , vegetables are fresh and salted. The Institute of Agrarian Economics reported this.
For wheat kutya (950 g) you will have to pay 175.05 UAH – this will be the second most expensive dish on the festive table. The most expensive ingredients in a dish in 2024 were poppy seeds and walnuts.
A traditional compote of dried apples, pears and prunes will cost another 105.36 UAH.
Fried fish, such as carp, will cost 306.97 UAH. Thus, this is the most expensive dish this year.
Lenten borscht with beans will cost Ukrainians 131.94 UAH for 2.5 kg of food.
Traditional Vinaigrette salad (1.73 kg of products) will cost 67.75 UAH. The most expensive here will be pickles 21.4 UAH. for 200 g.
Dumplings with potatoes (1.51 kg of products) will cost 50.06 UAH, dumplings with cabbage (1.481 kg of products) – 52.5 UAH, and dumplings with cherries (810 g of products) – 69.74 UAH.
Stewed cabbage (2.229 g of products) will cost 109.88 UAH.
Sauerkraut now costs 75 UAH per 500 g, pickled cucumbers – 42 UAH per 400 g. Fresh cucumbers will cost 70 UAH per 500 g, and tomatoes – 64 UAH.
Let us remind you that the State Statistics Department reported that in August this year, compared to August 2023, wholesale prices for industrial producers increased by 31.2%. Prices within Ukraine increased by 35.0%, and outside Ukraine – by 6.7%.
