A new flight restriction zone has appeared in the south of Belarus – the Olmanskoye Swamp.
The monitoring group “Belarusian Gayun” reports this in its Telegram channel.
The new restricted area was introduced under NOTAMN O0781/24 and O0782/24 for the period from December 8 to December 20, 2024 and prohibits flights of all types of aircraft at altitudes from the ground to 20 km, the report said.
It is noted that the territory of the new restriction zone already fell into the previously introduced absolute prohibition zone, covering the entire territory of Belarus bordering Ukraine, the validity of which is constantly being extended (currently valid until 23.59 on December 31, 2024).
Thus, flights in the specified zone could not have happened without the consent of the military, Gayuna notes.
The new zone was introduced on the territory of the Olmanskoe Swamp, and in fact throughout the entire territory of the Olmanskie Swamps landscape reserve, together with the Pripyatsky National Park, and affects the Stolinsky (together with Stolin), Lelchitsky and Zhitkovytsky districts in the south of the country.
Previously, this territory was also known as the former 41st aviation training ground (Merlinsky), where bomb launcher testing was carried out since the early 1960s, but the training ground was closed in 2005, notes Gayun.
In addition, according to the monitoring group, the Lelchitsa district executive committee reported that from December 10, planned exercises would be held in the district; on December 8, a column of military equipment was spotted in Pinsk, which is adjacent to the new restricted zone. This equipment belongs to the Belarusian 38th Special Operations Forces Brigade.
Today, December 10, in the afternoon, an air raid alert was already announced in northern Ukraine due to the threat of the use of ballistic weapons.
