The main problem with the return of the children remains verification, as the Russian side refuses to provide information about them.
As part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, five Ukrainian children and their families were able to return to Ukrainian-controlled territory. This was announced on Monday, December 9, by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak in a message on social networks.
Among those returned were three young Ukrainians who had just become adults. Two of them spent a long time in Russia, where they experienced psychological pressure, and the third young man, who lost family support, finally left the temporarily occupied territory.
They also freed a family of four, whose children aged 11 and 14 were targeted for prosecution because of the family’s pro-Ukrainian position. In addition, a 77-year-old woman who could not evacuate on her own received assistance.
“Their stories are evidence of fear and terror in which people are forced to live under the occupation. The coordination of actions of Ukrainian government bodies and institutions, the active support of volunteers, public organizations and international that partner made it possible to achieve this. result – Ukrainians who survived difficult trials have finally returned home,” – wrote Ermak.
We remind you that Ukraine managed to return 1002 children from Russian territory and temporarily occupied lands, but the Russian Federation forcibly expelled about 20 thousand more.
